It used to be that medical schools were publicly defined by the press release. Not so much anymore. Messaging and information now occurs via new social channels such as blogs.
If you’re trying to figure out where blogging fits into your institution’s communication strategy, you might want to check out our panel at this year’s AAMC national meeting in San Francisco.
We’ll be exploring the different varieties of blogs currently in use by leading medical schools across the U.S. You’ll have first-hand access to Michelle Brandt and John Stafford, the masterminds behind Stanford University Medical School’s award-winning blog, Scope.
Sean Ahrens, Crohn’s disease patient and founder of chronology, will offer unique insight into how you should co-opt the valuable voice of the e-patient. This may well be the first AAMC panel in modern history to solicit the POV of an e-Patient.
You’ll hear from me as well. I’ll tell you how to tap the critical mindshare of your school’s faculty. How do you enlist physicians in content creation and what role should they play in your strategy? But first I’ll tell you what doctors are thinking when it comes to social media. To work with them you have to understand them.
This power panel will be under the capable moderation of Cynthia Floyd Manley, Integrated Messaging and Content Strategist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She understands the emerging trends in digital communication and she’ll be pushing us with the tough questions.
This represents an encore presentation of our panel delivered at the 2012 AAMC GIA meeting. We filled the room before and we’re planning to do it again. So come early to get a seat.
